• Hard-right U.S. Rep. Bob Good easily defeated a Republican challenger to again win the GOP nomination for his 5th District seat in Central Virginia.—Cardinal News

• Republican Hung Cao, a Vietnamese refugee and Navy veteran, beat a big GOP field to win the party’s nomination to try to flip Northern Virginia’s blue-leaning 10th District.—Washington Post

• With a deal apparently in sight, Virginia budget negotiators are eyeing a June 1 return to Richmond.—Washington Post

• The Loudoun County School Board is suing to halt grand jury proceedings initiated as part of Attorney General Jason Miyares’ investigation into how school officials handled a pair of politically charged sexual assaults last year.—WTOP

• Gov. Glenn Youngkin restored voting rights to nearly 3,500 Virginians with felony convictions.—VPM

• A Maine family is demanding answers from Lynchburg police after authorities concluded 38-year-old Johnny Cashman died of natural causes. The family discovered a large amount of blood in Cashman’s apartment and surveillance video showing a man leaving the apartment on the last day Cashman was seen alive.—WSET

• Dozens of graves in Norfolk are under threat from a river’s eroding shoreline.—Virginian-Pilot

• Some residents of Pound are fighting to save the small Southwest Virginia town from the General Assembly’s vote to abolish it.—Washington Post
